On February 23rd, the honourable Jonathan Wilkinson, Minister of Natural Resources, announced that Iranians residing already in Canada by Temporary Residency Visas (TRV) are able to extend their residency easier with the new measures of government.
This decision is based on the recent systematic human rights violations executed by the Islamic regime on protestors during the Iranian rally since late September.
The government of Canada decided to support the Iranian nationals by facilitating their visa extension and changing their visa type between different temporary streams.
This new act will able the Iranian applicants to pursue their education, work, or family reunion by applying for a new permit from inside Canada. Also, the Ministry of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship will grant work permit to Iranian and examine their applications faster via a priority stream.
Moreover, the Iranians will benefit from the processing fee waiver and also, citizens and permanent residents of Canada in Iran will not have to pay the passport, and permanent resident travel document fees if they want to leave the country.
It should be noted that, the recent measures will be applicable from March 1st.
The Canadian government will continue to monitor the situation in Iran to offer even more means of support in response to the Iranians’ needs for example, there will be a few changes to the Human Rights Defender stream to adapt it to the current situation.
