Saskatchewan Welcomes Skilled Workers

Saskatchewan Welcomes Skilled Workers: New Immigration Routes Announced!

On August 30, the Government of Saskatchewan unveiled two new Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) pathways to attract skilled workers in the healthcare and agriculture sectors. These pathways, introduced under the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP), aim to address labor shortages while supporting the province’s economic growth.

The new Agriculture Talent Pathway seeks to fill in-demand jobs in Saskatchewan’s agriculture industry, a vital sector that exported over $3.2 billion worth of crops in 2023. Qualified applicants need at least one year of relevant work experience, a valid job offer, and Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 4 or higher.

Meanwhile, the Health Talent Pathway supports Saskatchewan’s Health Human Resources action plan. It streamlines recruitment for healthcare roles, consolidating all SINP health sector recruitment into one pathway. Eligible candidates must have related post-secondary education and, in some cases, CLB 5 or higher.

Saskatchewan’s Immigration Minister Jeremy Harrison emphasized that these new pathways are critical in helping businesses secure the skilled labor they need. By 2025, the province expects to welcome nearly 20,000 newcomers, supported by an increase in its immigration nomination allocations.

These new initiatives make Saskatchewan an attractive option for skilled workers seeking new opportunities in Canada.
