The category-based selection under the Express Entry route, including STEM

The new Express Entry selection system recently announced by IRCC includes selection based on job category or French-speaking applicants. These types of invitations that are being issued recently, are based on job category or French language skills, which includes 6 groups, including Science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) occupations.

It was announced by Francois-Phillippe Champagne, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Industry, that the first STEM round for category-based selection under the Express Entry route is to be opened in the week of July 5.

This draw is focused on candidates with STEM experience in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics streams like data scientists, software developers and programmers, mathematicians, statisticians and actuaries, and electrical and electronics engineers.

As stated by IRCC, this program will help to attract talented and skilled experts to Canada’s sector of Science and Technology as well as other occupations, discussed further in this article.
