Tunisia Opens Doors to Iranian Tourists – No More Visa Hassles!

In a significant move to boost tourism and enhance bilateral relations, the Ministry of Tourism of Tunisia has announced the cancellation of visa requirements for Iranian tourists. Effective June 15, 2024, Iranian tourists holding ordinary passports will be able to visit Tunisia without the need for a visa for stays up to 15 days.

This decision is part of Tunisia’s broader strategy to attract more visitors and promote cultural exchange. It also comes as a reciprocal gesture in response to Iran’s recent visa policy changes. Earlier this year, Iran introduced a policy allowing citizens from 28 countries, including Tunisia, to travel to Iran without a visa for tourism purposes.

The announcement, made public through a letter by Tunisia’s Ministry of Tourism, highlights the country’s commitment to making travel more accessible and fostering international tourism. Alireza Bikdeli, Deputy for Consular Parliamentary and Iranians Affairs at the Foreign Ministry in Tehran, emphasized that this decision aligns with Iran’s efforts to simplify travel for tourists from various countries.

According to Bikdeli, since February 4, 2024, travelers from these 28 countries, which include major nations such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and India, have been able to enter Iran without visas for tourism. Notably, Indian tourists can enter Iran without a visa if they travel by air, though land travel still requires a visa.

With its strategic location and diverse attractions, Tunisia is poised to become a preferred destination for Iranian travelers looking for a blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. This development is anticipated to strengthen the tourism sectors of both countries, fostering closer ties and mutual understanding.

Travel enthusiasts and industry stakeholders are optimistic about the positive impact of this policy change, as it opens new avenues for tourism and cultural exchange. Iranian tourists can now look forward to discovering the charms of Tunisia without the inconvenience of visa applications, marking a new era of travel freedom and adventure.
