Timeline

The first step is to obtain Nulla Osta (Pre-Approval) from the Italian Investor Visa Committee. This involves preparing and submitting required documents online, including proof of lawful funds, a criminal record certificate, and the commitment letter for investment (In case of the managed fund, this can be non-binding).

The processing begins after payment of the initial professional fees, and the applicant is guided by the MICS legal and processing teams to ensure compliance with government requirements. At this stage, government processing fees, due diligence fees, and the second installment of the professional fees will also be due.

The Italian Investor Visa Committee evaluates the application and conducts due diligence to ensure compliance with the Italian RBI program.

Once the Nulla Osta is issued (Within 40 days of first application), the applicant proceeds to apply for the Investor Visa at the nearest Italian Embassy or Consulate. Post Nulla Osta the visa is stamped into the applicants passport, enabling them and their family to enter Italy, for biometrics.

The applicant and family members travel to finalised and pre-approved resident permit applications. This involves attending a biometric appointment and completing the required formalities at the Immigration Office (Questura).

Once the physical residence permit is issued (within 30 days of biometrics application), the investment (e.g., in SICAFs or government bonds) must be completed within 90 days post the biometric formalities, and typically 60 days after receipt of the residence permit.

At this stage, the payment of the final professional fee balance will be due, marking the completion of the process.
