Residency of Panama
by Investment

Panama, strategically located between Central and South America, serves as a global hub for international banking and commerce. The iconic Panama Canal, connecting the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, facilitates significant maritime trade, granting investors unparalleled access to global markets spanning the USA, East Asia, Europe, and Oceania.

The Panama Residence by Investment Program, commonly referred to as the Panama Golden Visa, offers foreign nationals the opportunity to invest in the country’s burgeoning economy and obtain a residence permit. This program is designed to attract high-net-worth individuals, providing them with the right to live, work, and study in Panama. Notably, it offers a pathway to citizenship after five years of residence, with an accelerated timeline of one to three years for citizens of certain Latin American countries and Spain.

Panama’s well-developed, service-based economy, combined with its strategic location and favorable investment climate, makes it an attractive destination for global investors seeking residence in a dynamic and growing nation.

Timeline

After retaining MICS and paying its initial professional fee, the first step is to choose the investment type and sign the property reservation agreement. The applicant must pay the 10% deposit of the investment property or selected financial option. The applicant can visit Panama in person or complete the process remotely via a video call.

For remote acquisition, the applicant needs to provide a notarized and apostilled power of attorney (POA) at the Panamanian consulate in their country of residence. MICS will guide the applicant through gathering all necessary documents and submitting them to the relevant authorities.

Panama’s Friendly Nations Visa program streamlines the process by requiring a straightforward set of civil documents. The applicant must pay the remaining investment balance within four weeks to proceed with the residency application.

Once the investment funds have been verified, the MICS processing team prepares and submits the residency application. At this stage, MICS’ second professional fee will be due.

The residency application process includes an appointment for biometric data collection in Panama. The applicant and immediate family members must travel to Panama to complete this step in person. After submission, the residency permit is issued within 6-8 weeks, allowing applicants and their family members to stay in Panama.

Once the permanent residency permit is granted, the applicant can collect the residency cards in person or authorize delivery through the nearest Panamanian consulate. This is the stage where the remaining balance of MICS’ professional fee will be due.
